The 7stanes is a partnership of several public agencies in the south of Scotland and led by Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS).
Over the 9 years since the inception of the 7stanes project, a total of £4 million has been spent creating 400km of world-class trails and related infrastructure to attract new and repeat visitors and broaden the product appeal to include families and beginners.
The 7stanes stretch right across southern Scotland from Glentress (near Peebles) to Glentrool (near Newton Stewart) and offer a wide variety of graded trails for all ages, all levels and all year round. In addition, the funding has sought to increase business awareness and involvement in the mountain biking market as well as seek to raise the profile and brand of the 7stanes.
The 7stanes now welcomes over 400,000 visitors a year bringing over £9m into the economies of Dumfries and Galloway and Scottish Borders.
The nearest 7Stanes to Whithaugh Park is the Newcastleton trail – more information and directions can be found on the 7Stanes website
